We all know that we have unique major and sometimes explaining our major and concentrations can be a little challenging. One tool that we have to our benefit that can really help us explain who we are is our e-portfolio. Making it thorough and clear is important. With that in mind answer the following questions:
How will your e-Portfolio demonstrate your interdisciplinarity?
What is the audience / purpose you're thinking of using?
How would you envision your e-Portfolio looking like? What would you like to stand out?
What things are you thinking could be used as evidence?
My e-portfolio will demonstrate my interdisciplinary by showing how I've blended ethnography, photography and journalism into creative and intuitive photo and video stories.
ReplyDeleteMy audience is my future employers/clients and the purpose is to showcase my best photos and videos.
My e-portfolio will be much like a digital packet of photos and videos with captions and narrations and what will stand out is the story-telling of the photos as a unit.
The best evidence is the photos themselves.
My e-portfolio will demonstrate my interdisciplinary because it will show how I plan to integrate my two areas of focus which are health and behavior science, and my minor which is history to have the adventurous and unique career that I want to have.
ReplyDeleteMy audience would be the Peace Corp, and then future employers in the.
I hope that my e-portfolio shows how I came to the place in my life that I am now, and why that I have the dreams that I do. I hope that people can see what I am passionate about. I hope what stands out is that I am sincere, and that I am sure of what I want.
The best evidence that I have is that photos that I have taken while traveling, because they show what I did there.

ReplyDeleteHi Heather,
ReplyDeleteI believe you will have great success with your e-porfolio as well! I love involving pictures into my e-portfolio because it is a lot easier to showcase our experiences. For example I have done a lot of mentoring with children and have a lot of pictures to show that. A story of course is interesting, but when you integrate the picture too, it gives a whole new meaning and allows the audience to really connect with your story.
Hi Kevin,
ReplyDeleteI think you will have great success with your e-portfolio! Pictures tell a great story and the fact that you have photography as one of your majors is perfect for the e-portfolio! This gives you a great chance to showcase your work.
My E-portfolio demonstrates my interdisciplinarity by showcasing how I make use of the different concentrations that make up my major in order to achieve one goal; which is getting into medical school.
ReplyDeleteMy E-portfolio is targeted towards my teachers, and I use it as a means of reflection of everything I have done in my undergrad years.
I would like it to show that I am a well rounded student, and that due to my interdisciplinarity
I can look at tasks from a different angle, rather than just one – like most majors that concentrate on one individual subject.
Evidence of my interdisciplinarity could be my transcripts showing the classes I have taken, and the extracurricular activities I have partaken in while in college.
My e-portfolio will help demonstrate my interdisciplinary by clearing outlining how I intend to use my various concentrations in the work field.
ReplyDeleteMy e-portfolio target audience is future employers to showcase my best accomplishments throughout my undergrad.
I would want my e-portfolio to be unique but still be professional. Adding color and other stand out features tastefully. Also I think that visual cues will play a big part in the overall layout.
Pictures and photocopies are great forms of evidence.
Kevin
ReplyDeleteEthnography, journalism, and photography that’s really awesome! You will definitely have a leg up on those that just concentrated on one of the three subjects. It’s great that you can showcase ethnography not only through journalism, but also visually through photography.
Heather
I once looked into the Peace Corps as well, and am still thinking about it – it’s such a great adventure, and experience to have in life. Since the Peace Corps have locations in many different areas of the world, it is awesome that one of your concentrations is history. Best of luck!
It seems everyone has a good grasp on what they want their portfolio to be and to look like.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is on track in that sense, so I offer this... Go ahead and start working on it. Even if you aren't in an IDS class, just add stuff here and there. It will help you when you are in capstone, because evidence will already be there, and you can just put it all together.
I plan for my e portfolio to demonstrate interdisciplinary by showing my educational background.
ReplyDeleteThe audience is the company in which I plan to do my internship.
I plan for my e portfolio to look very professional.
I plan for my volunteer history to stand out on my e portfolio.
I have a lot of evidence but I would say that the most useful will be my awards.
